Set sail for a wonderful story
From the Mi'kmaq to Acadians, from Jersey Islanders to Brits, people from all over have landed in the Gaspé over the centuries. The peninsula still bears the traces of old-time maritime traditions, cultures and accents. Come learn about the region’s spellbinding history in the all-new, decidedly contemporary Musée de la Gaspésie building!
The Gaspésie… Le grand voyage permanent exhibition offers a different way of “touring” the peninsula. From west to east, between sea and mountains, from yesterday to today, set off on an epic journey to meet the men and women who tamed this vast region.
Consult the current program for information on our temporary exhibitions and cultural activities.
Would you like to know whether one or more of your ancestors played a part in the region’s history, or to learn more about traditional fishing techniques, for instance? Ask the Museum’s archivist, captain of over 488 linear metres of archives, thousands of publications and databases. He’ll be happy to help you find the answer.
Before you leave …
Drop into La Muse, the lovely gift shop, where you’ll find a great selection of items, 95% of them made in the Gaspé and 100% made in Quebec!
